About Bogli Consulting
Bogli Consulting was started by Director Jess Bogli, a former middle school health teacher and health education curriculum specialist for the Oregon Department of Education. We have a team of three who include the director, office manager/specialist and one part-time independent contractor.
Our intention is collaboration and partnership development so that we can all work to build stronger, healthier school communities.
About the Director
With a BS in Health Education from Ithaca College in Ithaca, NY, and a Masters of Science in Education/Curriculum and Instruction from Portland State University, Jess Bogli began her career as a middle school health teacher in Portland, Oregon.
She became the Health Education Curriculum Specialist at the Department of Education and worked closely with a team of specialists from both the Oregon Department of Education (ODE) and the Department of Human Services (DHS) to implement coordinated school health. In 2005, she was selected to be one of 17 people nationally to help revise and develop the National Health Education Standards, which were published early in 2007.
After working for ODE for three years, Jess decided to pursue a career as an education consultant because it would give her the opportunity and flexibility to provide targeted, strategic and comprehensive support to school health organizations. An exceptional speaker, presenter and facilitator, Jess's work includes facilitating meetings, workshops and strategic plans, presenting and speaking at conferences, and developing curriculum and materials specifically around school health issues.
About the Office Manager/Specialist
Maesie Speer joined Bogli Consulting in September 2008 and is passionate about building bridges between public health and education. She is currently an MPH candidate at Portland State University and received her BA from Carleton College in Minnesota.
Maesie moved to Portland from Minneapolis where she worked at the Center for Health Interprofessional Programs at the University of Minnesota and discovered her love of public health. The other half of her brain is devoted to the performing arts. She is an associate artist with Hand2Mouth Theatre in Portland and has performed around the country with Theatre de la Jeune Lune, Actors Theatre of Louisville, Sojourn Theatre and others. Maesie hopes to bring these two parts of her life together as she explores the application of social practice art for health promotion.
