Am I really doing this?
A school health blog?
For those not in school health, doesn’t this sound like the nerdiest thing you’ve ever heard of? But for me- it’s the coolest thing ever.
I’m Jessica Bogli. I had a wonderful high school health teacher named Cindy Bars who made learning about health meaningful. My mom says that at dinner every night I would talk about health class. Three years later when my brother had the same class, my mom didn’t even know he was taking it. He is NOT a health teacher.
I went to college for K-12 school health education. Loved every moment of it. Classes, research papers, student teaching. Once college was finished, I moved from the eastcoast to Portland Oregon. I began teaching middle school health education. And, it’s history from there. Not really, because in between I oversaw school health education for the state of Oregon by working for the Oregon Department of Education (which could be it’s own blog in itself…) and now I’m a school health consultant. It’s a blast. I love what I do. I am so happy.
So, what’s the goal of this? Seeing as though I’m a facilitator, keynote speaker, curriculum developer and trainer, I have to have learning objectives, right? I have two sets. One set for me, the author and one set for you, the reader.
By the end of a blog entry Jess will be able to…
- Share stories of school health with others
- Share tips and resources
- Work on my writing skills
By the end of a blog entry, readers will be able to…
- learn
- apply
- grow
- laugh
be well,
jb
