Another strong meeting of State Directors of Health and PE in Tampa. A meeting I never miss due to its members, professional development and networking opportunities.

I had the opportunity to reconnect with mentors and role models, partners and old friends. The chance to community with people about what their HIV programs, Coordinated School Health programs, health and physical education programs look like at the state and local level is invaluable.

The Executive Committee asked the members to set some goals for this year and what we could do for the Society. My goal is to better communicate to those that have a long a history with the Society about how we can better appeal to my generation of professionals. By way of updating our logo, our website and our image. It’s time. Or else we aren’t going to appeal to new members. But, I’ve had resistance in the past, so I’m hesitant to push further. I want to respect those that have been a part of this organization for years and years, however, we won’t be viable if we don’t make some changes. Soon.
